The accuracy of CMM can be improved by using fixed compensation model or adaptive compensation model, or a combination of both. The fixed compensation model depends on the error detection results of the coordinate measuring machine and the correction table established. For example, a grating ruler calibration table calibrated with a laser interferometer can be used to compensate the linearity of a grating ruler of a coordinate measuring machine. The application of the fixed compensation model can also be extended to

metal
The accuracy of the fixed compensation model depends on the measurement repeatability of the CMM, the perfection of the compensation model and the accuracy of the calibration method. The adaptive compensation model is used for the change of the geometric composition of the normal coordinate measuring machine. The cost of improving the accuracy of a coordinate measuring machine depends on the repetition of the measuring machine rather than the geometric accuracy. By improving the accuracy, the geometric error can be reduced by 80%~ 90%. The temperature change is the biggest factor that causes the change of the geometrical composition of a coordinate measuring machine.

Compared with the corresponding error in the coordinate measuring machine, the workpiece deformation is larger. At present, there is no adaptive compensation technology for temperature change in foreign countries.
